Is there really a difference between organic and non-organic food?

Organic food is not a recent trend in India, right? Everything grown in India was by default organic before the green revolution. However, for a clear understanding let us just first make you all understand the difference between Organic farming and conventional farming.

Organic Farming –

Organic Farming is a kind of farming that is done in the union with Mother Nature which means no chemicals are used on the farms on till the harvesting stage. In fact, the farm owners or farmers use the farm leftovers such as cow dung, cow urine, green mulching etc as nutrients. These are used for doing any pest/disease management as well.

Hence, the organic farming doesn’t believe the killing the pests, moths, or any other insects but organic farming respects the nature value chain along with their roles. It means, the organic farming allows everyone to co-exist on a farm while using things like

  • Multi-cropping,
  • Trap crops etc.

The focus in organic farming is more on improving the soil’s strength by increasing the carbon footprint of soil naturally while encouraging the natural bio-organisms to grow them within the soil.

Conventional Farming –

In conventional farming, the farmers usually use the chemicals and sprays pesticides, insecticides on the plants which are obviously poisonous in nature. In-fact they do so at the seeds stage itself. And, they sometimes use GMO seeds instead of native varieties.

Moreover, to improve the germination of these seeds, these seeds are also sometimes treated with chemical solutions and artificial promoters for ensuring the enhanced sapling growth. In fact, there are continuous sprays of pesticides and fungicides for saving the plants from getting diseases and they don’t even pay attention on increasing the soil strength.

So, obviously the organic food and inorganic food differs in several ways:

The organic food that you buy from an Organic Grocery Store will be completely chemical-free whereas the inorganic food is the one which create the traces of pesticide residues. And, this can be dangerous for human consumption.

As we discussed above, the organic food is not grown using any kind of synthetic fertilizers. Hence, organic food items will be smaller in size as compared to the Inorganic food because inorganic food items grow bigger in size due to artificial growth promoters.

Organic food items will also be not as shiny as its In-organic counterpart will be because organic food is not sprayed with artificial colors and chemicals to increase the shelf life or to make them look fresh and beautiful.

The shelf life of organic food is less than the inorganic ones because in the inorganic food external coating, waxing, or coloring is done.

Organic vegetables and fruits also have less chance of getting little worms inside the fruit because there are no Pesticides used.

However, the availability of organic food is limited because currently very few farmers are pursuing organic farming in India plus the logistics is a challenge.

The shapes of organic vegetables, fruits even from the same plant will be different every time whereas other fruits or vegetables which have been inorganically grown would be consistent in shape, size, texture and even taste. Hence, diversity in the shapes and sizes is the hallmark of organic food.

As we have already discussed there is no fumigation of any chemicals in storage for Organic food at Organic Grocery Store in Delhi which can make the dry groceries get some worms. But, these worms can be easily removed by simply putting the packet in sun. But at the end, it is pure and chemical-free.

Organic fruits and vegetables may not be available throughout the year in the Organic Grocery Store because these can be grown in sync with nature. However, this isn’t the case with the non-organic food because the availability of inorganic food items is mostly ensured round the year because these can be grown using artificial growth promoters and GMO seeds.

The nutritional value of the organic food is definitely much higher than the conventionally grown or inorganic food. Hence, it is always recommended to eat organic food when someone is unwell or wants to build immunity. In fact, the people consuming chemical-free food over a long period of time have higher immunity and are healthier..

And the best part is, organic food is also very good for the farmers because it helps them to earn more money compared to conventionally grown food. So, the incomes of the organic farmers increase faster in comparison of the in-organic food farmers.

Final Words –

We have discussed numerous benefits of consuming organic food. But do you know organically grown food is also good for the planet as a whole because it promotes the sustainable farming, and it also maintains the fertility of the soil while keeping the entire ecosystem under balance.

Therefore, for the betterment of the health of our nature and our family we should go back to our roots and support organic farming and farmer by switching to organic food. Buy organic food from Organic Grocery Store in Delhi.
